Somerset Fellowship of Drama Unsung Heroes Award

SFD have agreed it’s time to honour our members who keep our groups up and running, those without whom our groups would be lost, our unsung heroes who aren’t the ones who get all the glitz and the glamour at our awards nights for themselves.

Therefore, we will be awarding two cups at our AGM in October, The Sybil Thorndyke Trophy and the Pat Hudson Trophy. These will be awarded to two of those you nominate and send in, within two categories.

1.    Youth Groups Unsung Hero

2.    Adult Groups Unsung Hero

I’m sure you are all able to think of someone who works hard in the background, keeping tabs on who needs to do what to get our shows on the stage. They maybe your production assistant, reminding you when what needs to be done, they maybe the person who ensures there are always refreshments available at your rehearsals, they maybe the person who organises your chaperone licences and rota’s that enable your shows to go on. The list is endless and it’s over to all of you to tell us about them and nominate for these awards.

Please send a paragraph or maybe even two paragraphs, telling us, the SFD committee, why the person you are nominating deserves the award.

We will put together a shortlist from your nominations and will publish those before our AGM, at which we will announce and award the winners of this years Amdram Unsung Heroes Trophies.

Please email your entries to dendy@hotmail.co.uk

It’s time to reward those who are our loyal and hardworking friends, without whom our groups could not function. SFD rewards so many of you through our competitions, The Cinderella Awards for pantomimes, David Beach Awards for musicals, both youth and adults and the Phoebe Rees Awards for plays. Now lets recognise the unsung work of those behind the scenes.

Looking forward to receiving your nominations,

Dendy

Chair of SFD
