A Special SFD Awards Night

Last night (7 March) a group of totally amazing people, ranging from age 8-80's, gathered together to celebrate all that is good in musical theatre across Somerset.

When I took over as Chair of Somerset Fellowship of Drama in 2023, I did so to ensure we could continue to acknowledge the breadth of talent we have across our beautiful county whether in musical theatre, pantomime or plays.

Last night was our awards night for our David Beach Adult & Youth competitions & what a night we had with over 300 people gathered at the Batch Country Hotel who looked after us all superbly.

I was so proud of all our societies as we celebrated their amazing achievements together last night. Many congratulations to all our nominees & winners & to all of you involved, whether on stage, off stage, back stage or front of house. Every single one of you are key members of your societies & I could see last night that our future in Somerset is in very safe hands, thank you.

In addition we were delighted to say thank you to our long time Coordinator, Di Dean, who is stepping down from that role at the end of our David Beach season at the end of November. We awarded her a life time membership of SFD. Thanks Di, you'll be a hard act for anyone to follow.
