Muses Jack and the Beanstalk

MUCH A’MUSE’MENT AT GIANT PANTO

I had heard so much about Muses Theatrical Productions and was very much looking forward to watching their debut pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, in Weston Super Mare.

A great decision in choosing a Tom Whalley script. He is one of my all time favourites. It’s never too lengthy and he brings so much to the table that can also be adapted. A debut too for Director Conner Vickery.

With a cast of eleven including the chorus, a small stage and just eight, yes eight, rehearsals (a Director’s dream!) I was wondering how this show would pan out. I was certainly not to be disappointed.

This was without doubt comedy entertainment at its best and each cast member played their role in a proficient manner. Gags were aplenty and the innuendos kept flooding in.

Each scene was executed with precision and the ‘It’s behind you’ and ‘audience participation number’ was swiftly handled with the 12 days of Christmas adding mayhem to the show. The growth of the beanstalk came as a huge surprise and added visual appeal to the production.

Congratulations to Samantha, Janet and especially Barry. All costumes looked striking under the lighting. A new rig and wig for each Dames entrance too. Exactly as it should be.

With a selection of appropriate musical numbers and fine singing voices to enhance these songs there was much to enjoy in your pantomime.

I salute you all on your fine efforts. It’s certainly a pat on the back from me!
