Moorlight Theatre Production's Snow White

MOORLIGHT THEATRE PRODUCTIONS PRESENT

SNOW WHITE

While browsing through your comprehensive programme it appears that I have watched almost twenty of your fine performances and I have to say you still gave me the same ‘friendly welcome’ as you did all those years ago. It’s hardly surprising you pride yourself with ‘Just Friendship’

Snow White was the society’s choice this season. Written by Vicky Orman and directed by Rowena Collins this pantomime had something for everyone as you would come to expect by Vicky’s style of writing. With a cast of well over fifty both Rowena and Choreographer Hollie-May certainly had their work cut out.

This was a colourful and stylish production that we come to expect from this enthusiast society.

Casting was spot on and it is so encouraging to see many young and talented performers in the society too. It is clear they did everything the director asked of them and the future is certainly bright for Moorlight.

Comedy was in fine abundance especially from Rivet and Trivet despite prompting each other occasionally. You handled the ‘Audience Song’ impeccably Rivet. By contrast Queen Malicia gave us a fearsome character. I wouldn’t want to bump into her late at night in Clarks Village!

All society made sets complimented the action from the Queen’s chambers to the Castle Dungeon and, with lighting on cue, gave each scene an appealing feel. Props were aplenty and all over the top. I especially loved the lippy, hairspray and toothbrush.

I have to say your costumes were magnificent and could grace many a  West End stage. Snow White and the Dwarfs costumes were a tad different to what we come to expect but nonetheless each character looked striking. I loved the Dame’s attire. A new rig and foam wig on every entrance - exactly as it should be. It has to be noted to you Rowena, and your team of costumes makers, that your attention to detail was of an enviable standard.

There were some great sounds from down in the pit so congratulations also to Joel and the band. In particular I loved the saxophone.

With a packed audience I am certain everyone came away in fine festive spirits.

Congratulations to you all and I look forward to watching next years panto ‘The Enchanted Mix-up’. That sounds intriguing. Cant wait!
