Cloverleaf Productions present
Hansel and Gretel (And the notorious ‘Giant Friendly Badger’)
For those of us with a sweet tooth and have their 5 a day (such as Kale, Carrots, Cabbage, Courgettes and plenty of ‘mash potato’) need look no further than Coombe St Nicholas Village Hall.
It is here where Cloverleaf Productions are performing Hansel and Gretel and what a pantomime this turned out to be, in ‘allsorts’ of ways!
Philippa Glastonvill certainly had her work cut out. As if writing and directing a pantomime wasn’t enough, Philippa decides to take on board assistant MD, set design, puppets, props, prompt and just thrown in for good measure some chaperoning too! How fortunate Cloverleaf are to have such an enthusiastic all rounder.
Here was a village pantomime that simply flowed from beginning to end without a hitch, thanks to the talents of everyone on stage, the black gang and those on sound and lighting. What can be achieved on a stage almost the size of a postage stamp is truly amazing from this dedicated troupe.
This was a resplendent, colourful and well rehearsed production and delivery of lines was crystal clear from every principal. I have to mention that the clarity and delivery from every junior cast member was faultless too. What incredible confident young talent you have within your group.
This pantomime, with much comedy and mayhem, moved along at a swift pace and never once did I look at my watch!
There were many memorable moments. From the beginning I loved the antics of Bodger with his sign. Visual comedy at its best although the entrance of Madam Brazenpantsen I felt went a little unnoticed. ‘She’ was definitely worthy of an arousing number from the band on arrival!
All sets added to the appeal of this show. I laughed at the inside of the Cheapazchipsen Hotel reminding me of a similar place I stayed at in Corfu many years ago!
All the panto elements were there including plenty of mess we all like to see but in mash potato form. This worked a treat with good comic timing.
A panto isn’t a panto without an ‘It’s behind you’. Welcome to GFB! An amazing headpiece and scream to match!
Thank you for including a great UV too although perhaps I would have liked it to have lasted a little longer with a bigger ending considering children are always captivated by this scene.
Costumes were very appealing, appropriate and aplenty and all society made. I especially loved the Dames. A new wig and rig just as it should be and as for those ‘clown’ boots – Wow!
The right balance of musical numbers sung with gusto made this the show it was. Congratulations to you all!
Thank you for your hospitality and for a most memorable Cloverleaf experience.
