Clevedon Comedy Theatre Club present Alice in Wonderland
If you live in the world of imagination, then a trip to Clevedon will work wonders for you!
It is at the Princes Hall where the Clevedon Comedy Theatre Club are presenting Alice in Wonderland. Written by Tom Whalley and directed by Becky Starr this was, without doubt, one of the best pantomimes I have seen in recent years from this enthusiastic team.
A great choice of script helped to create such a magical and colourful spectacle and each character was convincingly brought to life by the talents of your principals. You each played an important part and it was inevitable that Becky had made the right decision in her casting.
It’s impossible to name everyone but here are a couple who caught my eye.
Alice, played by Amy Reed, gave an outstanding polished performance. I do not believe you will find a more perfect Alice anywhere in the UK, apart from Yatton of course! A truly remarkable piece of theatre Amy. Many congratulations.
Likewise we had the talents of the White Rabbit played by Kate Hurst. An energetic performance holding us all in the palm of your hands or rather paws at all times.
Each scene was beautifully designed and dressed thanks to Amy Vinson and Jan Weaver in the props department. Imaginative lighting and multi media added appeal to this pantomime.
The enchanted Garden was a memorable and nostalgic scene for me. The talents of the Adele Stitch School of Dance was quite remarkable. What an incredible troupe of young performers. Their smiles lit up the stage too. Well done Adele and Charlotte. I am certain these little confident stars will be our future judges on Strictly before we know it!
Costumes were outstanding and made this pantomime the show it was.
Congratulations Amanda. You certainly had your work cut out but it most certainly paid off.
Personally I would have loved to have heard a little more from the band as I believe you have more hidden singing talent out there. Two or three extra numbers wouldn’t have gone a miss. Just an observation and certainly not a criticism.
On a bleak and depressing January afternoon there could have been no better place to be than sharing a brew with the Mad Hatter!
This was a pantomime that certainly lifted everyone spirits and I congratulate you all on a ‘wonderland’ magical experience.
