The play is drawn from the journals and letters found on the frozen body of Captain Robert Scott. It blends scenes of the explorer and his men at various stages of their ordeal, with flashbacks of Scott and his young wife and with glimpses of Roald Amundsen, who beat him to the South Pole. It is a powerful piece of theatre, capturing with chilly intensity the awesome bravery of men for whom there is no happy ending. A chilling but heartwarming tale of human courage and adventure.
